I’m starving since I quit smoking.?

I quit smoking 2 weeks ago, and now all I think about is food!! I expected an increased appetite, but this is insane.. I am trying not to consume any more than I did before, because I was comfortable with my weight and diet. Now however, I feel deprived. I drink water like its going out of style, but I have limited time for bathroom breaks, and I’m not being satisfied. I try munching on carrots, but they just make me more hungry. Is there a supplement that can help with this? I’ve already gained 4 lbs, and I haven’t even changed anything. (i’m already down to 1200-1500 cal /day, and I’m gaining weight!! )

    Wellbutrin could be just the ticket for you. Not only is it the same active ingredient as Zyban (used to help folks stop smoking), it also, for many who take it, has a pronounced effect on decreasing appetite.

    just chew gum or bite on a tooth pick that takes my mind off smoking but you do know that smoking makes you skinny hence all the supermodels smoke you had to know that.

    exercise and eat healthier like grilled chicken, salad with italian dressing (ranch is fatty) run everyday, do anything, but dont start back smoking

    Just stay busy, sometimes when im bored i really want to eat, but when im doing things i dont think about food, im too busy

    so try to stay active and busy to take your mind off of it

    I had the same problem when i quit, your mind and body is just looking for a substitute for that cig.I used things like tic tacs, sugar free candy and if I really could not kick the craving for food, i had popcorn or fruit juice Popsicles. Just try to make sensible choices when you snack and you will get through it. i smoked for over 20 years and quit without the help of drugs or patches, because I was determined. If It does become unbearable, speak to your doctor about the prescription aids then. Don’t give up and good luck!

    Smoking is addiction. You are doing the most difficult thing you will ever do in your life. Do not make it more difficult on yourself than necessary.

    You will be able to lose any weight you put on now, later. Concentrate on not smoking. I found “smoking” cheese puff and having an ice bar got me through some of the worst of my cravings…. I put on 40 pounds in the first year I quit smoking. I was able to start taking it off slowly the second year post smoking and have lost a total of 50 pounds with sensible eating and exercise.

    But NOW is not the time to worry about your weight… quit those awful cigarettes before your lungs are permanently damaged.

    Up your exercise such as walking as much as possible. Do as many activities as you can that you associate with neither smoking or eating…. soaking in the bath tub ect. for me it was playing games on the computer… I’m an expert on the old 2D lemmings game.

    I spent evenings giving myself pedicures and manicures.

    However, you will need to find what works for you.
